What is Auth0Alternatives?

Auth0Alternatives is a community driven list of authentication providers for developers. The goal of the site is to be your first stop when searching for an authentication provider. It will help you find alternatives and in depth comparisons of the authentication provider you already use.

Why did I start this project?

I came up with the idea when I was struggling to choose an authentication provider for my next project. I realized how difficult it was to find objective comparisons of the different authentication providers. While there are some good blog posts, they either cover only a fraction of the available providers or are no longer up to date.

I created this directory because I believe that it's crucial to choose the right authentication provider, as it's a core decision that's hard to change later on. I learned the hard way.

I experienced huge price jumps with Auth0 and the ultimate vendor lock-in with AWS Cognito. Creating the directory felt like the right way to help other developers to avoid these traps and make the right decision.

This approach helps us balance between popular, well-established projects and promising newcomers.

About the Author

I'm a freelance software engineer and cloud architect. I mainly focus son AWS and the development of data-driven systems (ML/AI) for startups and scaleups.
